Their hands are so like ours. They are so freaking human! Anyway, when an Orangutan comes along and extends his hand to go for a walk, you take it. It was so strange to be at this rehabilitation center – being so up close and personal with the Orangutans – after spending so much time in the wild jungle where even a glimpse is considered a rare wonder. The vibe from them is very different, and while it’s less exciting to simply see one where they are mostly rescues and semi-wild, it’s no less exciting overall. In many ways, being in the wild and feeling that energy, and then being in a sanctuary and relating to these beings there, created for me a very complete experience.

Glad you finally found someone you can really sit down and talk to!
What sweet rapport! It doesn’t surprise me at all that you gained the trust of this smart creature. He/she probably could sense you were a good guy immediately. Though maybe you just spread mashed bananas all over your body beforehand…
Got a second hand thrill watching you take your walk with your new friend
They’re so sentient – and strong, aren’t they? I remember back in Kenya we had a chimp, Rozina, who was saved when her Mom was shot by poachers. She would run up, jump, and land on me using me as a climbing gym. Then she’d swing down, take my hand and lead me off on an adventure to share her world.
