Hard Kilometers

It has been a bit of a blur, as they say. After Burma I headed to Cambodia. After a few days in Phnom Penh, took a nite bus to Siem Reap. I found a nice eco resort with a pool, a little far from the action but the price was right. But there was no email at the place and it was a bit remote. The Cambodian cell never really worked, and then ran out, so I was kind of blissfully cut off. At Angkor Wat! And I was just totally caught up and enchanted by the place. Spent 5 days there. These guys really duked it out with the Buddha. Loved it to an amazing degree. Headed down to Sihanoukville after that and spent a few days on an island off the coast getting my PADI certification, then headed back to Phnom Penh and then next day to Bangkok and then next day to Denpassar, Bali and up to Ubud. So I am still a bit whirlwinded out. Need to ground out. Luckily, Ubud is more than a tropical Carmel with slightly better art, though one wouldn’t be blamed for arriving at that initial impression. No idea what I will do next.

I have more to say (and if you know me you know I do), but until I write it down, if you need to hear it you can call me on my Indonesian number for my cell phone, which is 082145501709.

Happy New Year to 1 and all.

    Cuz:
Remember back when travel meant having letters sent ahead to an American Express office, travelers checks and long distance operators? Then we had no choice but to immerse ourselves and swim. Now one can wade as deeply into a land as you wish then pop out and check email.. It’s nice when the techno bubble fails and we find ourselves smack on our little blue green planet.
    Blissful for sure.
